I first heard of Ibiza (officially pronounced as Evissa), at my work place! Yup! You heard it right! At work place!!
Well one of the common areas at the office had multiple wall clocks indicating different time zones across the world. One of the clock was labeled Ibiza and curiosity got better of me, that's how I researched the island and learnt more about it. Of course it was on the wall to indicate European time zone. My research told me this place had an epic night-life and beautiful ocean front!
A few years later, I got introduced to EDM and attended couple of EDM concerts. That's when I heard of this place again and really understood how big the night-life and EDM scene was, but even then, I never thought of visiting this place.
So when a trip to Spain was planned and a friend suggested we spend a few days on this island I was thrilled! Visiting the places which are not on my radar evoke a different kind of emotion. It is very difficult to put it down in words, but, it is a mix of anxiousness (positively so), thrill, excitement and wonder. Almost childlike!
After a good few days stay in Barcelona (I highly recommend visiting this city), we headed off to the party land and Unesco World Heritage Site.! An island full of Pine trees!
Clear waters, turquoise blue ocean, cob web of boats & ferries and almost the entire island is visible as the flight approaches the island. The view from the sky is spectacular.
Bossa Del Mar booked through AirBnB was a clean and neat apartment to stay with a beautiful view of the east coast near the town of Ibiza. The promenade toward the town had great food, drinks and shopping options.
But the main attraction for us was the night clubs! We headed off to the Space Night Club. It was one of the Best Global Night Clubs then. I guess now it goes with a different name. One of the two parties we attended there was on a Sunday. Sundays at Space is like a tradition, because the party goes on till wee hours (6am) in the morning. The other party was themed as Debauchery. The word describes it all.
Highlight of the stay was attending the party at Ushuaïa by David Guetta. Ushuaïa Club is ranked as one of the top 10 clubs in the world. One can of course stay at Ushuaïa, if they want to experience more of the party life. I had never attended a show of this kind and magnitude before.
During the day we swam in the ocean and walked on the beach. Playa D'en Bossa, the longest beach on the island is a paradise for young party crowd. Many hotels have an access to the sea and have good low tempo music playing during the day.
Since our intent was to relax during the day and party during the nights, we did not explore the west coast of the island i.e., San Antonio, which is also famous for its night clubs or Formentera, which is another island nearby.
Visit this place with your friends. Don't expect too many sight seeing options as you would when you visit Europe; but definitely expect a relaxed time, a good party and decent food. Of course age (and legal age to attend parties) is no bar when you want to have some fun!
I am glad I visited this island when I did and experienced a young and vibrant energy. It only makes me wonder what would the city of Vegas offer?!
P.S:- Nostradamus predicted that due to the unique winds around the island, Ibiza may well be the only place to survive an impending nuclear holocaust. :-D
